Our Stained Glass:
A gallery of our stained glass will appear here once restoration is complete.
Restoration
Hi friends!
GOOD NEWS! Our long awaited capital project - the restoration of our amazing stained glass has begun.
Tony Sceviour devised a plan and put it into motion and with his brother Derek's help put it into action. Firstly, a frame is crafted with hinges and attached to the the facing and window-sill. The hinge is secured, while Tony painstakingly separates the stained glass from the frame. The hinges are then unsecured and the stained glass is lowered (see video).
This is absolutely incredible to watch. The stained glass will undergo some touching up of the sodering/welding, have some more support rods added, and careful cleaning and detailing.
Our new vinyl cased windows will start being installed next week, once complete the restored stained glass will be inserted.
Our very sincere gratitude and appreciation is owed to Tony for taking on the enormous task and responsibility of removing, restoring and reinstalling the stained glass (once windows are installed). It surely goes above and beyond the mandate of Chair of the Board of Management, and I think in it's own way a testimony of his love and devotion to his church and his God.
Also, thank you to Derek Sceviour and his crew for their contribution.
Lastly, to those who have contributed and continue to contribute to this project.
It has begun, and we are so very happy!
In Christ,
James
